We begin this Sunday with the reminder, yet again, that our best course is to commit ourselves to God’s care. We may expect comfort from God, when we keep up our communion with God.
When we hear the exhortations to God from His people (us) beginning the mass, we are invited to re-member. Re-membering is one of the miracles that happens at mass. We come as separate members of this Body and by God’s invitation, beginning with our baptism and reinforced weekly in the Introit and Lessons, we arrive at the Table of the Eucharist as One.
We come to mass today asked to join with heaven to “praise the Son of God.” As Christians, we are privileged to spend our lives on the happy and difficult path that leads to Christ. We are constantly striving to praise the Son of God in our words and deeds and to understand what constitutes praise. Today’s feast and its lessons show us an individual who gave unequalled praise to the Son of God.
Due to continued power outage in the Chapel. Confessions will be heard today, Saturday August 14 from 3:00 PM - 3:40 PM in the St. Thomas Aquinas Room.
Welcome Back! Let's continue to come together and celebrate our faith and St. Ann family. All are invited to Mass this weekend for the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Help create the St. Ann outdoor Marian Shrine. The first step in the creation will occur this weekend, August 14/15.
The close of the Gospel today gives us God’s eternal answer. “I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world.”
God invites us to begin mass today reminded that we can turn to Him. It is the turning to God that is so important. The outcome of our lives both here and in the hereafter ultimately lies with God.
